One + Four = Life | Feb 2016 (Part 1)

Standard

Welcome to another¬†One + Four = Life posts! These are pretty fun to do, though I may not get to them weekly. I’m hoping for bi-monthly because 1) other priorities and 2) my life just isn’t that exciting, sadly.

Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life…

Had another nerd out last weekend! Went to see a local improv group at The Off Broadway Theater. They performed “Star Ward”, which was a Mormon-themed Star Wars. Not as funny as the local comedy we saw a few weeks ago but still entertaining!

Of course, the Super Bowl!! Great defensive game, glad my Broncos won! Best of all, got to chill at home with the hubs and our little girl and eat homemade cauliflower bites and super yummy chicken wings (both made with combo of Frank’s Red Hot and Parmesan). Mmmmm….. ūüėÄ

fondue

“For Your Kitchen” (a local kitchen/gadget store) held a hands-on Fondue night on Feb. 13th. Fondue? Yes please!¬†We were given chicken, veggies, batter and sticks and got to make our own dinner. It was a little awkward (we had to share a pot with 4 other people) and slow but a lot of fun. We made a fun, unique memory together which is my favorite part of any activity.

shakes

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with Deadpool, wings and shakes?? Okay, we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. This was just a typical Sunday date for us. And it was fantastic! We had awesome wings (at our favorite Wingnuts), saw Deadpool (which was f***ing awesome, btw!!!) and then hit up Warren’s drive through for some shakes. Yes, there are 3 shakes and only 2 of us. If the hubs wants different flavors, he gets 2 small shakes. When we got home, we popped in the last season of Star Wars: Clone Wars and enjoyed our shakes. This was seriously the best day of the weekend!

Sooooo…… I forgot about these One + Four = Life posts that I got into¬†last year. These were pretty fun to do, though I may not get to them weekly. I’m hoping for bi-monthly because 1) other priorities and 2) my life just isn’t that exciting, sadly.

Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life…

A few weekends ago, we went to Slamdance in Park City, which coincided with Sundance. If you don’t know it, look it up. Our first time there, didn’t see any movie stars other than the ones in Director’s Cut (which was crowdfunded by people like us). Crazy navigating the town and parking! We had some crappy pizza, thanks Red Bango… did some window shopping (too artsy for me) and watched the movie. It was a different experience but fun!

The beginning of the month, I had a fun girls’ night out to celebrate one of my best friend’s birthday. We went to Twiggs Bistro and Martini Bar. Had a pineapple martini (not a pic of my actual drink because I forgot to take one, but this is pretty close) and yummy food. I love going out with my two best friends! We don’t do it often enough but it always puts a smile on my face and makes me realize how lucky I am to have them in my life. Man, have we been through some crap….. LOL

wing nuts

This last weekend, we nerd-ed out! First, we kicked off the night with delicious wings from Wing Nuts Restaurant. We shared the bone-in wings with buffalo chips (not pictured), followed by equally amazing Sub Zero ice cream (not pictured). I love their brownie batter w/chocolate chips and cashews. Mmmmm….. Afterwards, we went to a local theater for a comedy-improv of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

To finish out the weekend, and nerd out session, we went to see the actual Star Wars: The Force Awakens (again) in the theater. I really liked it the first time, in 3-D, but liked it even more this time. Perhaps because I caught some more humor and little things that I missed the first go-around. Seriously, this movie kicks ass!

One + Four = Life | June 29

I’m a day late again but what can I say? I was busy relaxing yesterday! ūüôā Mexico was a blast, got back Friday night. Saturday we went to lunch and saw The Illusionists, which was a great show and a lot of fun. Fantastic meal! Sunday was our yard / house work day, followed by relaxation and watching tv.

Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life…

mexicoOur first night in Mexico. We said “screw it” and kicked off our vacation with some much needed drinks. While playing foosball. It was a fun night ūüôā

lambs grillHad lunch at this little joint called Lamb’s Grill, in Salt Lake City. They have THE best bacon wrapped dates on this planet.¬†This time we had the dates (duh!), blueberry pancakes and the triple cheese grilled cheese. All of it was yummy!

showAfter Lamb’s Grill, we saw The Illusionists. The group has a handful of magicians all with different styles and acts. Had a lot of fun!

drinksOne of our friends came over and we made pina colada’s and strawberry daiquiri’s that same night.¬†The drinks¬†turned out okay, it was fun making them. We got tipsy and watched The Three Amigos. Super fun!

quirksI like the word “quirk”; it’s quirky. A much better term than “weird” to describe¬†the little idiosyncrasies that make me, me.

Here are a few more quirks that make me, me. Share some of yours below, I would love to hear them!

bathroom1.¬†Restroom stalls. This¬†actually¬†goes way back into child hood.¬†In elementary school, I had “my” stall in the restroom. I have no idea why but¬†I always¬†used the same stall and would be devastated/furious when¬†someone else was in there. Didn’t they know it was mine? Fast forward to today and I’m¬†the same way. In certain¬†places, I have¬†“my” stall. Not sure if it’s based on location or comfort but I¬†play favorites. ¬†

dog2.¬†Licking. I hate when dogs lick. Anything. Especially their private bits. It¬†completely grosses me out¬†to hear a dog licking anything. I will¬†literally scold my dog when she does this. She likes to lick my husband’s watch, arm, face, her own crotch, anything….¬†The only thing I hate more than¬†my dog licking something, is her licking her own crotch in the middle of the night when she comes in from outside. Ugh!!!! ¬†

pens3. Blue pens. Not sure where this one came from either but I prefer blue pens. I will actually turn down free pens if they’re not blue. I only buy blue pens and will only use blue pens, unless there is no other option available. I hate using black pens.

Stay tuned for more quirks next week. I have a million of them…

Here are a few more quirks that make me, me. Share some of yours below, I would love to hear them!

dishes1. Dishes. I’m a dish Nazi in the sense that, when I wash dishes (yes, I actually hand wash dishes….), they must be methodically placed in the strainer to maximize space. When Shawn does them, I secretly cringe a little because bowls are everywhere, plates turned in different directions (AH!!!) and things randomly thrown in. I let it go because I’m glad he helps with the dishes. He doesn’t know the horrific chaos inside my head when this happens. What can I say? I like to have orderly dishes.

call2. Email/Phone Call Combo. I hate this combo. You know, where someone emails you then immediately calls you to either a) ask if you’ve gotten their email even though you haven’t received the email yet, let alone had time to read it, or b) proceeds to say they’ve emailed you and then explains the entire email to you. Seriously? Either email and wait for a response or, if it’s that urgent, just CALL in the first place. Don’t double bombard me with your stupidity.

poo3. Dog poop. I hate when people don’t clean up dog poop when taking their dogs for a walk. It bothers me to the point that I stew about it for minutes. How dare people?! It makes me want to bag it up, follow them and leave it on their porch with a note that says “Excuse me, I believe you dropped this…” Ugh!

Here are a few more quirks that make me, me. Share some of yours below, I would love to hear them!

mine1. Pens: Once I start using a pen, it becomes “my” pen. And I hate for people to take my pen. When I worked with another company, I had a very recognizable pen. And when it went missing, I walked around each person’s desk until I found it, at which point I said “That’s my pen and I’m taking it back now. Thanks.” ūüôā

pillow2.¬†Pillow placement: My pillow is completely warped. It starts out normal and over time, due to my neurosis, gets warped into something hardly recognizable. I can’t sleep with my head in the middle of my pillow, like normal folk. My head has to be on a bottom corner of either side. But then the pillow fluffs up too much around my head, so I beat it into submission so the part I’m actually resting on is really full and firm. And if it takes me 10 minutes to get it “just right”, then my husband has to listen to me shift around and beat my pillow for 10 minutes until it’s “just right”. I’m sure he loves it ūüôā

oatmeal3. Liquid/soggy oatmeal: I hate liquid-y oatmeal. Oh, I put water in my oatmeal before cooking it but very sparingly. Currently, I’m loving oatmeal with hot cereal and protein powder. Still hate it liquid-y. If this happens, I add more protein powder to thicken it up. It must be borderline sludge for me to like it. If it’s mildly runny and I can’t do anything about it, it ruins my meal slightly and I don’t enjoy it as much.

quirks

I like the word “quirk”; it’s quirky. A much better term than “weird” to describe¬†the little idiosyncrasies that make me, me. Sometimes my quirks are serious business, one that people should not mess with. Others, I can laugh at myself about. I figured, why not share some on this fine Thursday? And every Thursday after that?

Here are a few quirks that make me, me. Share some of yours below, I would love to hear them!

clothes1. Clothes/Hangers: My shirts all need to hang with the front facing left, back facing right. With the hanger going over the rod so it’s easy to pull off. This picture symbolizes a closet nightmare for me. If the hubs does laundry and hangs my clothes wrong, I have to fix them immediately.

desk2. My desk/supplies: My desk isn’t spotless and tidy but everything has it’s place. And that’s where it needs to stay.¬†My blood boils¬†when someone uses something from my desk (without asking) and puts it away in the wrong spot. They think no one will notice. But I do.

kitchen drawer3. Cabinets/Drawers: They need to be shut. Period. It drives me nuts when cabinet doors or drawers are left partially open. I have to close them. This is one I can laugh at myself over. The hubs thinks it’s funny, too. He occasionally will leave things open on purpose because he knows it will bother me. One day, I came home to find all of the kitchen cabinets and drawers open. He thought it was hysterical. Admittedly, it did make me laugh ūüôā
