Fun in the Sun – Mexico All-Inclusive Vaca!

Standard

A little late, as we got back from Mexico almost 2 weeks ago but still wanted to share. Had an amazingly fun time!

Couple drinks while playing foosball. We’ve arrived!

We decided to try out two different all-inclusive resorts. The first as Occidental Grand Xcaret Resort; overall, it was average. We stayed here because it’s next to Xplor and Xcaret. The food at each restaurant was just average. Good thing we kicked off the afternoon with some drinks!

mexico 10Saturday was Xplor day, which is an adventure park. We started on the stalagmite rafting, followed by the off road jeep then the zip lines. All were so much fun, had a blast!

Rafting selfie – we’re so cute!

Off-roading in the jeep – super fun!

Beach looks better than it was.

Sunday was Xcaret, which is like an adventure park, zoo and beach combo. The “beach” wasn’t very impressive and there were way too many people. We didn’t stay in long. The zoo animals were cool to see, especially the bat cave. We had a bat block the entrance when we were trying to leave! LOL

Checked out of Occidental on Monday afternoon and headed to  The Royal. This was an adult only all-inclusive resort and was a little more “classy” than Occidental. When we booked the room, we were able to upgrade to a Master Suite for a good price. Our suite was 1300 sq. feet, complete with 2 bathrooms, Jacuzzi tub, dual head shower, kitchen with stocked bar, etc. It was amazing, I seriously loved this room!

Headed out for the bike tour. I had no idea the dangers that lie ahead!

knee

My scraped knee about 5 days after the crash.

We got wrangled into a bike tour that same afternoon, and after 4-5 banana mamma and pina colada’s, I ended up crashing (go figure…) and scraping my knee and cutting open my toe. Way to start out!

mexico 5

My standard for the trip – a pina colada and a banana mamma in each hand. 🙂

The next day we rented a jet ski for half an hour and did the fly board, which is like having jet packs on your feet and you get to hover over the water. Both were really fun. Fly board was hard to get the hang of but tons of fun. You can get 20-30 feet above the water which is exhilarating! The rest of the day was spent at the pool and the pool bar. More banana mamma and pina colada’s! 🙂

Snorkeling in the freezing waters of this Cenote, while bats flew overhead.

Wednesday we did a tour that consisted of snorkeling with the turtles, snorkeling in a cenote, lunch, zip lining and the Tulum ruins. The turtles was really fun, they’re huge! The cenote was cool but extremely cold. Good thing the tour company provided wet suits. Lunch was delicious, got to try an ancient Mayan dish. The zip lining was a little scary because the platform looked questionable and we had a stick for the break. It was fun though. The Tulum ruins were cool but the mosquitos really took away from the experience. Every few seconds, you were swatting them away. It was miserable, honestly. We actually left early.

Ruins at Tulum. Probably the only time we weren’t flanked with mosquitos!

Zip lining. The wooden sticks in our hands were the breaks. 🙂

Thursday was one of my favorite days. We spent the day on our cabana at the beach and at the pool. That night, we had dinner at the Chef’s Plate, which was included in our suite upgrade (it’s normally $80/person). It was a 5 course meal full of super delicious food, wine and special made drinks by the bartender. Afterwards, we did a couple’s massage in a gazebo on the beach. It was the most relaxing massage ever in my life.

Of course, we stuffed ourselves with food and alcohol every single day of this trip. I’m surprised we’re not each 500 lbs. after this vacation, though we did pack on a little weight 🙂 Flew home Friday afternoon, worked Mon-Thurs and then left for Boise. Super fun trips, sad that they’re over! Can’t wait to see what we plan for this fall! 🙂

Quirks Are Us Thursday | Volume #1

Standard

quirks

I like the word “quirk”; it’s quirky. A much better term than “weird” to describe the little idiosyncrasies that make me, me. Sometimes my quirks are serious business, one that people should not mess with. Others, I can laugh at myself about. I figured, why not share some on this fine Thursday? And every Thursday after that?

Here are a few quirks that make me, me. Share some of yours below, I would love to hear them!

clothes1. Clothes/Hangers: My shirts all need to hang with the front facing left, back facing right. With the hanger going over the rod so it’s easy to pull off. This picture symbolizes a closet nightmare for me. If the hubs does laundry and hangs my clothes wrong, I have to fix them immediately.

desk2. My desk/supplies: My desk isn’t spotless and tidy but everything has it’s place. And that’s where it needs to stay. My blood boils when someone uses something from my desk (without asking) and puts it away in the wrong spot. They think no one will notice. But I do.

kitchen drawer3. Cabinets/Drawers: They need to be shut. Period. It drives me nuts when cabinet doors or drawers are left partially open. I have to close them. This is one I can laugh at myself over. The hubs thinks it’s funny, too. He occasionally will leave things open on purpose because he knows it will bother me. One day, I came home to find all of the kitchen cabinets and drawers open. He thought it was hysterical. Admittedly, it did make me laugh 🙂

Stay tuned for more quirks next week. I have a million of them…

One + Four = Life | April 12

Standard

Oh man, not going to lie… I’m glad this week is behind me. Nothing bad happened, just felt exhausted, worn out and crabby. The best part of my week was Thurs-Sat because of the fun activities. Below is another installment of what I’ve been up to this week.

Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life….

glamour mag

Got the new Glamour magazine, always a great day when this arrives! I’m not super trendy or into fashion, nor can I master the makeup tips but I love the magazine just the same. It has some funny articles that I look forward to and some useful ideas or tips that I attempt and (sometimes) get right.

tickets

These are tickets for the shows we went to this week. A total of 5. Friday night we went to The Off Broadway Theater, which puts on a comical “improv/scripted” version of famous movies, tv shows and/or plays. Saturday was light/laser shows at the Clarke Planetarium (3 shows total) followed by comedy at the Bob & Tom Show. All were super fun and in early celebration for Shawn’s birthday tomorrow.

savannah

Our cute little wiener dog, Savannah. She usually looks away when you take her picture. I was lucky to get this one of her looking up. She was sunbathing on our deck before I came outside to snap pictures. She’s too cute!

sea salt

I bought this Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray because I’m determined to get those beachy waves that I keep seeing in magazines. I could only find 2 options at Target and this one was cheaper. It sucks! This did nothing different for my hair but make it feel super raggedy (like a hobo) and gross the next day. I enjoy the smell though. I’ve given it a good run this week. Definitely won’t buy again!

The Dog Ate My Earplugs…

Standard

Sounds like the punch line to a really funny joke, right? Wrong. For real… the dog ate my earplugs. It’s hard to believe that our sweet little princess (pictured below, with grass in her mouth after being caught eating said grass) would do such a thing. So how do I know she ate them, you may be asking yourself? Simple. THEY’RE GONE! *POOF* Just like that.

Savannah So the earplugs that I’ve been using for the last 1-2 weeks and keeping on my nightstand, were magically gone one night. Getting ready for bed Saturday night, I reached for my plugs to discover they were gone. “Okay,” I thought, “Maybe they rolled off the stand.” Nope. I checked under the night stand, under the bed, between the wall and the head of the bed. No where to be found. Surely I had misplaced them or something then, right? Nah. Turns out there was something more sinister at work here.

Sunday, the hubs and I went to Home Depot and I picked up some new plugs. A whole pack of them. Took 2 plugs out and placed them on my nightstand. That night, I reached for my plugs before bed and guess what? Mysteriously gone. I checked everywhere. Again. Now, I can definitely admit when I’m losing my marbles but there is clearly only ONE solution. The dog ate my earplugs.

Those missing plugs have yet to surface. Will they ever? Who knows…
