Taking Stock | October

Standard

Oh man, I fell off the wagon last month. Let’s see what’s new… I’m still doing school, just one more month left of this semester. Unfortunately, there’s way too many semesters left to go before I’m done. I’ve also started a part-time Wellness Internship with a local county department and also started a part-time job at my university’s new Money Management center. Since being laid off, it seems like my schedule has constantly changed. Hopefully, it’s leveled out now. Hopefully. Didn’t do anything exciting for Halloween, just stayed home and watched some scary movies. Pretty low key this year.

So here’s a look into my October, another chapter down in the book called 2015.

What was YOUR favorite part of this month? Comment below! If you start your own Taking Stock – leave the URL below – would love to read all about your world 🙂

This month was kicked off by being laid off of my job, as my position was eliminated. A good and bad deal. I’ll certainly miss the money and short commute but I was unhappy there. And, it brought about a great opportunity. While job shadowing for my Health Promotion degree, I made a great contact and now have a Wellness Internship with a county office. Super excited!!!

I’ve also started another semester at school, taking Social Media Communications, Art and (still) doing Math. We’ve been on a few hikes recently and got to experience beautiful views of the fall season taking over the mountains. Not going to lie, there have been a few things that I’m struggling with recently but I’m trying to stay positive and push forward.

Making: works of art 🙂

Cooking: healthy, low-carb chicken alfredo. Yum!

Drinking: crystal lite. I’m addicted…

Reading: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Wanting: for this congestion to go away

Looking: for another part time opportunity

Playing: grown up 🙂

Deciding: that I’m not ready to give up shorts and tank tops!

Wishing: my body would hurry and get back to normal. That competition was rough!

Enjoying: some beautiful hikes

Waiting: for Orlando in December…

Liking: eating bigger meals, less often

Wondering: how someone gives up on life and resorts to wearing pajamas, fuzzy slippers and a ratty shirt to Walmart. And seeing nothing wrong with it.

Loving: the protein oatmeal cookies!!

Pondering: the options and my feelings

Considering: sending my symptoms to the writers of House and seeing if they can find a cure.

Buying: not much lately, just the necessary items

Watching: all 6 Star Wars, plus the Family Guy versions, plus the cartoon versions. Nerd alert!

Hoping: that I rock at this internship

Marveling: at how fast this year has gone by

Cringing: at the scale

Needing: a girls night

Questioning: how I could have liked “My Stepmother is an Alien” growing up. That movie is terrible, with a capital T!

Smelling: the fall air

Wearing: more loose fitting shirts lately

Following: some new contacts on LinkedIn

Noticing: that the mornings are darker

Knowing: how to fully work my entertainment system would be a real plus sometimes.

Wishing: I would make faster progress!

Helping: at the volunteer center

Hearing: thunder outside

One + Life = Four | June 7

Standard

I’m a few days late on my Sunday “life” post but this was one exhausting weekend! My weekdays consisted of training, eating and more training. Friday, I had to get my stage tan, attend the competitor’s meeting and prep some things for the next day. Saturday was a loooooong day. Up at 4:30am and didn’t get to bed until 1:30am but it was great! The competition was amazing. I was stressed, nervous and excited but I had a super fun day and am really proud of myself. See below!

Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life….

folks

Me and my parents after I won my trophies. I know their expressions don’t show it, but they’re really excited and happy for me 🙂 My dad rarely smiles and my mom always has the “I’m so proud I could cry” look on her face whenever we accomplish something. They’re happy people, I swear. 🙂 I couldn’t have been happier at that moment, unless there was food involved. You’ll have to wait for the professional pics to be posted to see my suit!

trophiesClose up of my trophies. The smaller one is for 2nd place in my division (Novice Figure A) and the taller one is for 3rd place in the Open class (Figure). I can finally add some trophies of my own to my husband’s collection of bodybuilding trophy shelf 🙂 There is no money for winning, just these trophies and the sheer satisfaction of knowing what I accomplished.

pancakesThese are the start of our second round of pancakes at Denny’s, after the competition. First round was IHOP, then we made a last minute decision on the way home to stop at Denny’s. We’re like hobbits and consider this second breakfast. And damn they were good!! 🙂

muffinsHealthy blueberry muffins we made on Sunday. Blueberry protein powder and real blueberries made these phenomenal! This is exactly what I meant about getting back to normal life and our regular flexible dieting. So much yummy, healthy food we hardly know where to begin!!

One + Four = Life | May 10

Standard

Once again, I’m a day late in posting. Yesterday was a little busy with the gym and taking my mother-in-law shopping. By the time we got home, I was pretty worn out. Plus, I had to dig into the delicious turkey (below) and relax for the remaining hours of the day. It was a great weekend and, other than a slow work week, a great week.

Hope you enjoy the glimpse into my life…

kitchen

My new “scented” plug in light. My mother bought this for me on our last shopping trip. I also have a red one in my living room. Absolutely love them! Just add a scented bar, turn on the light and my house smells absolutely wonderful! This works so much better than the big warmer I have in my kitchen. Love it!

training

Volunteer world, here I come! Met briefly with the program director and have started working on the training material. I won’t start volunteering until July but am super excited (and really nervous!). Hopefully it’s a good fit and I can help make a difference. It’s so unlike anything I’ve ever done before and I’m truly looking forward to the experience, good or bad.

turkey

This is a 2 part picture, mainly because I have no idea how to merge pictures together and forgot to take a picture right after I took it out of the oven. So…. this is a delicious turkey and veggie that we made yesterday. YUMMY!

Also from the recent shopping trip with my mother (she spoiled me for my late birthday gifts!). Cute kitchen décor that I picked out and have yet to put above my cabinets. I love the colors and style of both pieces!

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to My Routine Crazy Life!

Standard

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my blog, My Routine Crazy Life, and I’m SOOOOO excited! The title of my blog sums up the whole enchilada. My life is both routinely crazy or crazily routine. That’s just how I roll. When I first started my blog, I wanted to focus on fitness and health but ultimately decided to focus on life. More specifically, my life, thoughts and experiences. But it almost didn’t happen…

balloonAfter publishing my first couple of posts, and not getting any likes or comments, I felt really deflated. I had a pity party and then thought, “Who cares? I want to blog so I’m going to blog.” And here I am….

knowingI got ideas from Facebook and my own experiences and started typing away. Eventually, I discovered the “Reader” feature on Word Press and started clicking on different blogs that seemed interesting. I’ve discovered so many talented people and wonderful blogs that I truly look forward to reading each day and am getting to know more people. These bloggers and blogs are a source of inspiration, a portal into other worlds, thoughts and ideas that have opened up different doors in my own world. Just today I got a shout out from a fellow blogger and it felt amazing, a true honor in my book!

Always a wayThe lessons learned? You can draw inspiration from anything and everything, other people’s worlds are interesting and fun, and I truly love sharing my world with you all! Admittedly, I don’t share my whole world, thoughts and feelings with you all. You might think I’m a little too crazy and we wouldn’t want that 🙂 Another lesson is DON’T GIVE UP! I wouldn’t have discovered the fun and wonder of the blogging world if I hadn’t stopped the pity party and got back to writing.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has read, commented and liked my posts and for allowing me to become a part of your worlds, the same way you’ve become a part of mine. I truly appreciate you all and this experience so far!
