liebsteraward

I had never heard of the Liebster Award before today (am I the only one?) but I’m told it’s an award where bloggers can nominate their fellow bloggers (with under 300 followers) to answer the following questions and help share other blogs. So, THANK YOU to Michelle Anneliese at look through my lens for throwing out this nomination on her blog for my wandering eyes to see.

In turn, I nominate anyone and everyone who wants to participate! Answer the same questions that I do and leave your blog URL in the comments so I can ‘get to know’ you as well. Have fun with it! Here are my answers! 🙂

How did you decide on the title of your blog, and what’s it about?

I initially wanted to do a blog just on fitness and health, then expanded the idea to include my daily world. I love health and fitness but there’s just so much more to write about and going on in life and I wanted to be able to share different aspects of myself.

What is it that you love the most about blogging?

It forces me to get a little creative about blog topics and think outside the box. It’s a great release and way for me to share things with the world. Plus, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know other people and gaining new insights to different lifestyles, lives and views that I wouldn’t have been exposed to otherwise.

Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?

1) I hate being called Missy. Hate it.

2) I wanted to be a teacher or vet when I grew up.

3) I love dressing up really fancy.

4) I hate cold weather but love the soft sound of snowfall and steady patter of rain and the silence outdoors that they bring.

5) I love hearing tales of true love and romance, thought it creates doubt in my mind.

6) I used to like clowns but think they’re creepy now.

7) Am terrified to break free and do something crazy but long for it at the same time.

8) I LOVE snowmen. Anything snowmen.

9) I’m scared of heights. And big, furry spiders the size of a silver dollar.

10) I can’t stand the sound of a dog licking themselves or other people.

11) I love the Golden Girls and find them even funnier now.

What is your favorite food? Favorite candy?

So many to choose from! Homemade pizza, pasta, steak, burgers, rice cakes, MTS protein powder cookies and shakes, anything chocolate and peanut butter. Cookie dough! Not a candy person.

What is an item you cannot live without? (You can have more than 1!)

My family, friends, health and home are givens. Chapstick, gum, makeup (I would scare people to death!), comfortable shoes, my workouts, food :), sunshine, fun, laughter, a good pillow/bed. There is so much more!

What would you do if you couldn’t use the Internet or TV for a month?

Fall behind on my homework/online classes without internet. TV wouldn’t be as bad. I would spend more time with loved ones, reading or doing projects.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Flew to Las Vegas, NV by myself.

If you had to give yourself a new name, what name would you pick?

Probably something exotic. It would depend on my mood at the time.

If you won $1 million in the lottery, what would you do with it?

Pay off my house, quit my job, finish school and travel the world!

What is something you do when you need to take time for yourself?

Paint my nails, watch a movie, read a book or shop.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Done with school and in a career/job that I’m excited for most days and feel like I make a difference. I also see myself continuing to create a better life balance and enjoy life’s little moments more. I also see myself reflecting on great memories from my most recent travels 🙂

*BAM* YOUR TURN!! Comment the URL to your Liebster Award for everyone to read 🙂

  1. Into the mild

How did you decide on the title of your blog, and what’s it about?

Into the Wild was a book about a young man with zero wilderness experience who gave away all his possessions, burned all his money, and moved to the Alaska wilderness to try to survive off the land. He died a horrible death. People tell me I’m crazy or adventurous for moving to South America and living out of a backpack, yet I arrange work online everywhere I go and usually live quite comfortably. Hence Into the Mild.
The blog is about my adventures and misadventures during my travels throughout South America, Europe, and the Holy Lands. It used to be more specifically about the weirdest things that happened to me (getting multiple exorcisms, being called to the stage for a dance contest), but has evolved as my travels have evolved and now features interviews with war refugees, recaps of cities I’ve explored, and other more standard things.

What is it that you love the most about blogging?

It helps me relive my adventures and allows my family and close friends to understand as well. I also enjoy the wordpress community where I’m able to look to others for advice and keep track of their travels and adventures as well.

    • Thanks for posting your answers and URL! I’m still going over your site and am really intrigued so far and can’t wait to delve into your posts. How exciting to just leave things behind and explore!

    • Don’t feel guilty! I’m just glad to have gotten nominated, in a roundabout way, for something. I jumped all over that! I can only dream of being too swamped with nominations and blogs, like you are! 🙂
